HISTORY
Don Bosco School Puthuppally

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Puthuppally founded in 1982, is run by the Salesians of Don Bosco. It is a Christian minority school working in the Malankara Catholic Diocese of Thiruvalla.

It is recognized by the Kerala Education Department and the students appear for the Kerala S.S.L.C. Examination. The medium of instruction is English. Our aim is to impart a sound education through a wide training which shall develop the character and personality of each pupil.

The Salesian Society, founded by Don Bosco, is a world wide educational organization with more than 3500 secondary schools, colleges, agricultural and Technical Schools and Youth Centres throughout the world.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF DON BOSCO HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, PUTHUPPALLY

2016

The Silver Jubilee celebration of the school was held on 23 January 2016. Sri.Oommen Chandy, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala inaugurated the public function and honoured Rev. Fr. K D Joseph Sdb and all the former principals of the school. Rev. Fr. Joyce Thonikuzhiyil Sdb, the Provincial, handed over the keys of Snehaveedukal to three families of our own students.

2014

A large school auditorium was the much awaited and long cherished dream of both the parent and student community. This dream was materialized when it was officially blessed by the Archbishop of Thiruvalla Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Koorilos and inaugurated by Shri.Oommen Chandy, the honourable Chief Minister of Kerala on 29 November 2014.

2008

The proliferation of visual media and its technology has been transforming the way students encounter the world, both from within and outside the class room. In order to bridge this gap an audio visual hall was inaugurated on 11 July 2008 by Shri. Oommen Chandy MLA.

2007

Don Bosco Kindergarten wing was built and blessed on 24th March 2007 by Most Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Timotheos, Bishop Emeritus of Thiruvalla and Inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jose Kuttianimattathil, Provincial Superior of Bangalore in the presence of Shri. Oomen Chandy, MLA.

2004

The Higher Secondary wing was built and it was officially inaugurated on 2 January 2004 by Shri. AK Antony, the chief minister of Kerala.

2003

In 2003 Don Bosco school was elevated to the level of a Higher Secondary School with the permission to start a science batch with Biology and later Computer and Psychology were added.

1999

The work of the new school building was taken by the provincial building commission under the Economer, Fr. CM Jose Sdb, Fr. Jose Vettom Sdb, the engineer and Fr. George Kalangara Sdb, the supervisor. The work was completed in 1999.

1997

The foundation stone for a new church building was laid by Fr. Thomas Panakezham and it was completed and consecrated on 15 March 1997. The church, built at the centre of the Don Bosco complex, is indeed a beautiful monument.

1995

Ever since the Salesians landed at Puthuppally, attempts were on to upgrade the school. The person who made this dream a reality was Sri. Oommen Chandy, the then MLA and later the Finance Minister of Kerala. On 23 June 1995 permission was given to upgrade St. George UP School to Don Bosco High School.

1994

Fr. Jose Vettom SDB, prepared a beautiful plan for a new school building with well-ventilated classrooms, a library, a computer lab, a science lab and other necessary facilities. The foundation stone was blessed by Fr. Guezou and laid by Shri. Oommen Chandy on 3rd December 1994.

1991

His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Timotheos, the Archbishop of Thiruvalla, requested Rev.Fr. TJ Joseph, the then Provincial of the Sacred heart Province of Bangalore, a Salesian presence in the Arch Diocesse of Thiruvalla. In 1991, Fr. Thomas Myladoor the then Provincial appointed Fr. KD Joseph SDB as the Parish Priest and In-Charge of the presence at Puthuppally along with Fr. VG Mathew SDB.

Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Puthuppally founded in 1982 is run by the Salesians of Don Bosco. It is a Christian Minority School in the Malankara Catholic Diocese of Thiruvalla. DBHSSP is an icon of commitment to the integral formation of every student and its commitment to the total development of the community.
